Redhawk Ventures Attend the first Student VC Summit

Student VC Summit Brings Live Pitch, Professional Panels, and Networking.

The first Student VC Summit was held at Union Hall in Cincinnati on April 5th, 2023 and Miami’s Redhawk Venture was one of the schools that attended along with the University of Louisville, Xavier University, University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky University.

Members of RV sat in on a live pitch of founder to VC and were able to observe what it’s like firsthand to pitch your startup. The startup that was pitched was Onlook.dev, a browser extension that allows designers to many edits to any production code using an interface they are already familiar with. Members stated that they learned a lot about what it takes to raise money and the kind of answers to questions that VCs are looking for.

RV members then got into different breakout sessions with professionals from eGateway Capital, Frost Brown Todd Attorneys, Cintrifuse Capital, Cincy Tech, Refinery Ventures, 1809 Capital, Fireroad, Queen City Angels, Maywic Select Investments, Windham Venture Partners, and Wellington Management.

These sessions were categorized by Later-Stage Investing (Kevin Gusweiler - eGateway Capital), Startup Valuations (Sarah Douglas - Cincy Tech), Diligence Tips & Tricks (Sean Kwiat - Cincy Tech), How to Support Portfolio Companies (Peter Schmidt - Refinery Ventures), Assessing a Company's IP (Vance Van Drake - Frost Brown Todd Attorneys), and Term Sheet Do's & Don'ts (Zach Bahorik - Frost Brown Todd Attorneys).

Members highlighted the valuable information they received and the connections they were able to make at the Student VC Summit. Redhawk Ventures looks forward to participating in it again in the coming years.
